Maker House

The Maker House is a women's empowerment center located next door to the Exchange House. This new public space offers a community gathering place on the first floor, office / studios on the second, and maker equipment in the attic and basement.
Programming will center around arts and crafts, entrepreneurship, and women's empowerment. The community space will host a variety of programming, primarily focused on creative activities and programs to support women and children under the age of 5. SPARK will be doing a summer program for parents and their children who are starting Kindergarten in the Fall. Partners such as BOUNCE and CraftyMart will collaborate on providing culturally and linguistically appropriate entrepreneurial cohorts. Local makers will be able to host classes on various arts and crafts skills and local non-profits will use the space for small support-group programming.
Special thanks to the sponsors who made this possible: Akron Community Foundation, Women's Endowment Fund, Burton D. Morgan Foundation, Knight Foundation, and the City of Akron.
